The Sunshine Stock was introduced in 1938, and was the first modern looking general use design to be built at Swindon, until then all general use corridor coaches had doors to each compartment. Like a modern coach the doors were at the ends of the carriage. |
The name Sunshine Stock came about as the carriage was a lot lighter internally than previous corridor coaches. |
